Food Grain Inspection In Gurgaon
CIL Provides Accredited Food Grain Inspection Services in Gurgaon, Haryana.Among other physical properties, grain colour is usuallyconsidered only during grain inspection by experienced inspectors. The colourof milled rice provides a rough visual estimate of the DM (see below).Thetightness of lemma palea interlocking is another important physical property ofpaddy. The exact way of visualising it is to make an appropriate transversesection and examine it microscopically. An approximate estimate of thetightness of husk interlocking can be obtained by a shelling test. The averagethickness of the paddy grain is determined with a dial gauge. The clearancebetween the two rubber rolls in a Satake testing husker (model THU 35B) is setat five eighths of this value. Then 100 randomly selected paddy grains areslowly passed through the husker. The number of unshelled paddy is counted. Themore the number of unshelled paddy, the tighter is the interlocking (Murugesanand Bhattacharya 1991).Thermal properties are another set of important physicalproperties of rice. Specific heat and coefficient of thermal conductivity areimportant parameters required in grain processing. Methods of estimating theseproperties are described in engineering handbook. Human visual analysis, Visualinspection of the grain lot as a whole, as well as careful inspection of arepresentative sample, be it Officially or un Officially, has been and willcontinue to be the overarching method of grain inspection at receival.Instruments such as digital imaging devices with pattern recognition algorithmshave not been able to replace manual visual analysis. The reason for this liesin the diversity of conditions to be examined, which include broken and shrivelledkernels, immature kernels, heat damaged and frost damaged kernels, staining, insect damaged kernels, stored grain insects, ergot, mould damaged kernels, foreign seeds, foreign matter, non threshed grains, sprouted kernels, andkernels of other classes. The ability to discern the particular damage conditionor defect for Official analyses requires an extensive training program, as wellas a check system to ensure alignment of Field offices. In the India, asexplained in Section 11.2, formal agreements exist between designated ordelegated inspection Offices and GIPSA field offices, and likewise between theField Offices and the national laboratory, that specify the types and number ofcheck samples exchanged. Similar mechanisms exist for the other grain exportingcountries. Additionally, Australian, Canadian, and American programs arereliant on a collection of digital images of normal, diseased, and defective grainsthat are used as references.
